Han Bing, a former database administrator for Lianjia, a Chinese real-estate brokerage giant, has been sentenced to 7 years in jail for logging into company structures and deleting the company’s data.

Bing allegedly carried out the act in June 2018, when he used his administrative privileges and “root” account to get the right of entry to the company’s economic device and delete all saved information from two database servers and two utility servers.

This has resulted in the on-the-spot crippling of massive parts of Lianjia’s operations, leaving tens of lots of its personnel barring salaries for a prolonged length and forcing an information restoration effort valued at roughly $30,000.
