Protect your business, invest in cybersecurity

Shielding your business from Internet threats can cost between €500 and €800 per month, but it can prevent losses of up to €75,000. Small and medium-sized businesses still have cybersecurity on their to-do list and are easy targets for online attacks.

Many SMEs and freelancers have adapted to digital change , but without having made an improvement in the privacy of computer equipment. Before the pandemic, around 67% of SMEs did not have security protocols on their computers, but neither did they have training or policies on cybersecurity

dad. A year later, the situation is very similar and worrying. More than 75% of the attacks have been to this type of company. The losses produced in an attack can range from €3,000 to €75,000.

There are no excuses

Computer security prices have come down and protection software can be found at affordable prices, varying depending on the requirements and size of the business. There is also free training that, being online, can be done from anywhere and at any time.

Do you know what one of the most common scams is?

Emails with the subject “send invoice” are a widely used resource to attack SMEs , since it is an email that is usually received very often and does not raise suspicion. The bad news comes when you download the file and open it, you realize that your financial data, usernames and passwords have been stolen . This type of attack has been the most used in 2020 according to data from the National Institute of Cybersecurity.

The number of cyberattacks has been so high in recent years that the Government is preparing a series of measures to help SMEs protect their company data. This will be done through the SME Digitization Plan, with aid from the European Recovery Fund to make SMEs more digital and competitive.
